Why would I consider this?

What is it?

Accent modification is a program where you will learn how to change the way you speak English when you need to.  You will learn how to speak North American English more clearly and naturally by learning the intonation patterns, vowels and consonants specific to this region of the world.  It’s about gaining confidence to communicate effectively in another language.

What is it not?

Accent modification is not about eliminating your accent.  In fact, most likely that’s not possible.  You also won’t speak your native language with a North American accent.  Instead, you will learn how to pronounce the sounds and intonation patterns of North American English and make changes in comparison to your native language.  It’s not about losing who you are but rather about gaining tools to use when needed so that your message in English is clear and understood.

How does the program work?

Your program will start with an assessment of your pronunciation in English.  I like to begin with a free speech screening.  Depending on the program you choose, you may also complete a comprehensive assessment which will look closely at your intonation patterns, vowels and consonants compared to those in North American English.

Your actual teaching begins next and may be delivered online or in-person.  You may opt for a self-study approach, live only sessions or a combination of both.  You will find the specific programs I offer on my shop and services page.

As you progress through the program, you will be required to do daily practice.  I use top-notch third party materials that are included and contain both an e-book and audio files that are yours to keep.

Lastly, once you’ve completed the program, you will receive a signed certificate of completion that you can share with your employer.
